Bladancy

Interview with Pitz

PITZ – What is Bladancy and who are the people involved?

Jacques Mongase –

Hi, my name is Jacques. I was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo but I moved to England in 2015 when I was 9 years old. Growing up, I often got lost in things such as video games, fashion, and programming. I would listen to hip hop mixed with jazz, lo-fi, and specific beats. At secondary school I never really felt like I fitted in much because I was from a foreign background and I loved various different styles of fashion, not just your regular Nike or Adidas.

When it comes to Bladancy, I’ve mashed up my old online name Blades and Ancy which is a place in France. I wanted to make a unique name and not something silly Like “Trap This”, “Trap clothing” or “Money Chaser” as many other clothing brands do these days. That type of branding is often not everyone’s cup of tea and isn’t wearable in most places, unless you’re 13 of course!

Me and my friend TJ are the people behind the brand and we want Bladancy to be something different in the streetwear scene.

PITZ – Where did your interest in creating a clothing brand begin?

Jacques Mongase

I’ve always been told in spaces such as college or in public that I dress nice! In my home country people love to dress up even if they’re financially unstable. My dad would always step out with something nice and that grew on me from the age of 14.

I’ve always liked clothing, I’ve always wanted to create something that is unique and could maybe change the clothing game as most people just create the same thing with just one or two changes.

When it comes to Bladancy, the designs started in July 2024 but the brand started in January 2025. I decided that I wanted to pursue clothing as I’ve seen people with way less imagination create something and grow.

Some of the pieces in Bladancy are actually based on real-life events. Such as our first tracksuits having a dice on it, which signified a kind of gambling with your life and throwing a dice to make change despite people’s judgment or the many challenges life has.

PITZ – What are your goals and next steps?

Jacques Mongase

My main goal is to make a difference in the streetwear scene. Even one tiny difference would be enough to please me. A lot of the time, especially in the UK, we see things that are similar. This is because nobody wants to be different. I will achieve this by constantly working on something new, whether that be a new style on jeans, tracksuits, shirts, polo shirts, jerseys, or female clothing.

The next step is to work with as many people as possible to get the brand out there both online and in real life! I will achieve this by allowing as many people as I can to get involved. I want to expand to working with social media influencers to help me reach more and more people. Then another steps is to work in different industries such as music. Artists are usually into fashion and it would be great to see Bladancy clothing in some music videos!

PITZ – Who have you collaborated with and is there anyone in particular you would like to work with?

Jacques Mongase

I’ve worked with my friend Harris, an upcoming photographer; he has helped out loads on various different shoots. In April this year, we went to see a friend of Nemzzz’s, who is a well-known Manchester rapper and is always working with different brands! We also have an upcoming collab with the UK influencer CK Da General, but more on that soon.

In the future, I hope to work with brands such as Drama Call and Parismo as those are two of the ones I like! That’s for the moment at least.

PITZ – What is your message to people and where can they find you?

It’s tough out here mentally, physically, and spiritually for everyone, no matter what they show or how happy they look.

If you have a vision, such as I did with Bladancy, then a lot of people aren’t going to like the fact that you’re on a new path. Most of them aren’t going to support you; instead, they will laugh and test you. But it’s your chance to keep pushing and prove to every person that you can do it. No matter if that’s in the music industry, clothing, or anything, just show them that you’re going to the top.
