PITZ – Who are you?
Grimace –
Hello, I’m Luke aka Grimace.
I’m a DJ who originally comes from Penistone but now lives in Leeds. I’ve been DJing for 10 years but in the past I’ve run a record label and raves in Sheffield. I just love all things music from 70s through to death metal and gabber.
PITZ – How would you describe your creative talent?
Grimace –
I would describe my creative talent as loud , fast and energetic.
My style is different to anyone else because I dip into quite a few genres and my sets are quite a journey for my crowd to vibe to.
I have built upon my already existing style by being more of a mature DJ and I have personally come a long way since I started DJing at 16. I really enjoy adding more elements of rave music to my set lists and I try to better myself with each gig.
PITZ – What initially sparked your interest and made you pursue your creative talent?
Grimace –
The genre dubstep initially sparked my interest in DJing from watching live boiler room sets on YouTube as a teenager with my friends to seeing some of my inspirations live in the flesh,
artists such as Mala ,Skream, Caspa ,Rusko and flux pavilion to name a few.
PITZ – How has your journey progressed and where do you see it taking you?
Grimace –
I started my journey in my friends bedroom it was just a hobby which I didn’t see going anywhere. Now, ten years down the line I’ve played multiple shows gained a residency with PITZ and now in 2023 I’ve got 2 festival bookings this summer alongside some big names.
I can’t see myself quitting my musical journey or changing my creative outlet.
PITZ – Have you worked with other creatives or do you operate on a solo basis?
Grimace –
Throughout my journey I’ve had the pleasure of working with quite a few different DJs, Producers and event organisers. I’m going to take the time here to big some of them up so the Pitz Crew can check them out…
KRASH
VIBEZ
GINNY
ILLMINDED MUSIC
SALT AND PEPPER SOUNDSYSTEM
HAPPY AUDIO
RIGMONKEY SOUNDSYSTEM
AND LASTLY THE ENTIRE PITZ PROMOTIONS TEAM
PITZ – Of all your creative works, what would you consider to be your favourite to date?
Grimace –
My favourite creative outlet to date is my collaboration track with DJ Vibez we made for my set at Plot 22 for happy audios night breakout in may. It was the first tune I had the pleasure of making in 4 years and we had fun creating a Dubstep track which samples the anime show Naruto.
It was something we had on the cards for a long time and we were both over the moon with it.
PITZ – What have you struggled with the most in your creative work?
Grimace –
The thing I’ve struggled most with during my journey is creative drought and lack of motivation towards recording mixes. I’m still working on overcoming these hardships.
No artist is perfect .
PITZ – Where is the best place for people to find your creative work?
Grimace –
The best places to find my creative work is Instagram luke_parker322
And my SoundCloud is @grimace
PITZ – Is there anyone in particular that you are hoping to work with in the future?
Grimace –
I wouldn’t mind working with Visceral either on a track or a live set at a rave.
PITZ – What is your message to your fans and followers?
Grimace –
Make sure to check out my social media pages to keep up to date with my releases and where I’m playing for the rest of 2023.
Cheers,
Grimace.
